Upcycle Your Corks: DIY Cork Garden Markers

Want a simple, eco-friendly way to keep your garden organized? DIY cork plant markers are the perfect solution!

Not only do they give old wine corks a second life, but they’re also durable, weather-resistant, and add a rustic charm to your garden. Plus, they’re easy to make with just a few supplies—no fancy tools required. Whether you’re labeling herbs, veggies, or flowers, these cork markers help you keep track of your plants while keeping sustainability in mind.

  • Natural Corks

  • Wooden Skewers

  • Permanent Marker(s)

  • Cordless Drill w/small diameter drill bit

  • optional: clear protectant spray

Instructions:

  1. Drill a hole – Using a small drill bit, carefully drill a hole into one end of the cork. The hole should be slightly smaller than the skewer’s diameter to ensure a snug fit.

  2. Attach the skewer – Insert the pointed end of a wooden skewer into the hole. If needed, twist gently to secure it in place.

  3. Label your plants – Use a permanent marker to write the names of your plants on the cork. Get creative with fun lettering or small illustrations! Optional: Overtime, weather and outdoor elements can make the marker fade. Spray a couple of coats of a clear protectant spray to make the labels last longer.

  4. Place in the garden – Stick your new plant markers into the soil next to your herbs, vegetables, or flowers.

That’s it! These DIY cork markers are a simple way to upcycle, stay organized, and add personality to your garden.
